GEGL operation missing
#1

Hi, Rich.  I'm trying to get the latest version of the AppImages to work and get the message above.  It's the last few releases that do this.

https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-app...continuous

The latest is GIMP_AppImage-git-2.10.23-20201231-withplugins  and I've tried 2 or 3 directly before this and they have the same result. I've looked in Synaptic and there is not an exact match for gegl introspect.

What has changed lately that makes the AppImages not work, where the older ones still do, and what would you recommend be done about it?  I've looked in Synaptic at a few of the Gegl packages, thinking of maybe trying to fix this without asking for help, and decided against installing anything before checking with you.

It is the Gimp developers throwing in ever higher hurdles to jump. I did report this see: https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-appimage/issues/61 but so far nothing from aferrero.

Nice to try out these weekly releases, fortunately the Gimp 2.10.22 works for everyday use.

Yes, it is good to still be able to use 2.10.22.  I hadn't tried out the newest AppImages in probably a month or so, it seems like, and the warning message was a shock because they had always been so simple to get to work.

All good things come to an end, I guess.  I'm glad I came here and checked with you before mucking up Mint with a bunch of random gegl packages that probably wouldn't help anyway.

Thanks. I added another confirmation to the GitHub page you linked.

Well doronf2 over on GimpChat got the solution, install graphviz, a few dependencies but nothing very large. Whole thing about 10MB.

That gets the appimage working. Verified in kubuntu 18.04 and Mint20 (VM) as this showing files installed: https://i.imgur.com/cjMU5Li.jpg

That is good news, Rich; thanks for the followup. Smile    10MB is nothing and it's already in Synaptic so, no foreign packages or any of that type of clutter.
