2.10.14 is forcing 72 DPI ?
#1
Hello,

I've recently upgraded to GIMP 2.10.14 and have noticed that all of my 300DPI drawings when updating and saving them it is changing the DPI to 72. It doesn't matter if the drawing was created in 2.10.14 or not.

For instance I opened up drawing U-180 and I took a screen shot of the Image>Print Size window:

I then File > Save as and saved it as U-180a, went back to Image > Print Size and now it shows 72 DPI:

Is there something that I am missing or is this a bug?

I couldn't find anything in the official release notes but I did find an article that states "Also, images opened with GIMP will now default to 72 PPI when no explicit resolution is stored in the imported file."

Could it be that it's not saving the resolution?

Thanks,
Softsah

Known bug: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/4194

Going back to 2.10.12 may fix that one until 2.10.16 is available.

OTOH the DPI is just metadata, you are not really losing image resolution, that comes from the size in pixels. This is just a problem if you try to print without being able to specify a print size.
