I have had a look around and although there are alternative arrowmaker scripts and plugins, some using selections, the ones using paths are the best bet.
The one I prefer is this one. https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Arrow-Script there is a download attachment there, unzip and put in the scripts folder.
Using the paths tool in polygonal mode for straight lines helps.
Draw in the first path, set up the arrow parameters (needed one time only) example: best all on one layer, delete path...etc. https://i.imgur.com/ORnjqvX.jpg
Then it is choose colour, draw next path, If you look at the top of the Filters menu you see that the very top entry is Repeat Last : Ctrl-F so use the key shortcut and ctrl-f to apply the arrow.
Repeat for next arrow.
