Bug or?
#1
If it is a bug I don't know where to put this under

2.10.38 doesn't give the option of using a chosen gradient/spherical maps? It only uses the default map, and 3 Release Candidate 1 doesn't have it at all!

Version 2.10.36 still had been fine.

Caveate: I am using Linux and Gimp 2.10.38

I still have a Colors -> Map -> Gradient Map and that works as;
Set the gradient to use
Apply the plugin.
Looking back at an older Gimp 2.10 It worked that way as well. Gimp 3.0 RC1 as well

A spherical map ? Which plugin/menu entry is/was this ? The only thing I can think of offhand is the MLBevelreflect plugin which can use a spherical map image. That works here in linux Gimp 2.10, it is a compiled plugin, not going to work with Gimp 3.0

Yeah the one that GnuTux made.  I don't know of any that can use it otherwise. I had it in all my versions up til 2,10,38 where it allows them

Are you sure the MLbevelreflect.exe plugin is in the correct plugin folder ? For example, have you swapped Gimp versions from samj portable to regular gimp.org which use different folders.

This a 30 second example using Win10 / Gimp 2.10.38 / MLbevelreflect.exe V2 64bit (zipped & attached)

Just checked your video out - so you got to open them now? Never had to before. Thanks
Not Samj's and it is revision 1

@sallyanne

Just looking at your screenshot and for those few that downloaded the Windows plugin some spherical maps. (zipped, attached)
The spherical map should be open in gimp as an image or a layer in your image. All you have there is a text layer and a background of some sort.
You do of course need the spherical map option ticked, still on normal map in your screenshot.

...but I am sure you know this already
