That reports faulty software from Canon.
I know that there are issues with the twain plugin with Win10 / 64 bit Gimp 2.10 (does not work) but AFAIK no problems with Gimp 2.8

edit: Absolutely no consolation but I pulled my ancient Canon LiDE 30 from the junk box (from 2004 -ish, so old I can not even give it away) Plug into linux Kubuntu 18.04 / Gimp 2.10.12 (xSANE plugin) Works fine
