Cannot find GIMP 2.10.38 (revision 1) update
#1
I'm using macOS 10.13.6.
Gimp 2.10.38 is installed; it came from a file dated May 2024 (gimp-2.10.38-x86_64-1.dmg).
A notification just popped up for a Revision 1 of my Gimp. Going to the Older Downloads section on Gimp's download page led to a 404 page. (Its link was https://download.gimp.org/gimp/v3.0/osx/)
Typing in https://download.gimp.org/ eventually led to a whole load of old Gimps. The 2.10.38 version there seemed the same as mine.
So, two things –
• The Older Downloads link on Gimp's page needs fixing.
• Perhaps the notification is trying to get me to download Gimp 3.0.2, even though my macOS can't cope with it. Or is there a Revision 1 lurking somewhere that I could use?

Niels: Hi! The revision 1 would be https://download.gimp.org/gimp/v2.10/osx...6_64-1.dmg
If you already have that, you're good to go.

For 3.0, it looks like we changed the path from osx to macos, like https://download.gimp.org/gimp/v3.0/macos/ I'll submit a request to have the link fixed - thanks for reporting!

TIP (for other dummies):

Having updated GIMP 2.10.38 to the max, I needed to turn off the Update Reminders for useless GIMP 3...
1. Go to GIMP on the menu bar, then Preferences in the drop-down menu.
2. Click the first item, System Resources.
3. Scroll down to Network access.
4. Untick the box for Check for updates.
That should stop those pesky reminders.

(I found this tip on http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20968)
