Export to photo app

Hi,

I am new to GIMP and am trying to master some of the simple parts of editing and saving photos. I can load and edit the photos but what I can't understand is how export straight to the Photo app on my Mac. I have looked for this in the chats and also on places such as YouTube but all I can find is ways to save to the desk top.

When I select "export as" I get the dialogue box and select A file name add the file extention I want (jpeg) and click on Pictures under the places tab. However once I click export I cannot find the photos. 

Can anybody help explain to me how it's possible to save directly to my camera roll/photo app Please? 

I don't really understand things like file structure and hierarchy so the simpler the better please.

The problem is that this is what every computer uses (even if under the hood) and what Gimp uses explicitly (like most apps).

However, if you click on "Pictures" when you export, U would expect other apps to have an "Import" function, where the "Pictures" can also be selected, and in which you would find your exported image.
