text along a path produces wierd format
#1
Hi everyone,
i am stuck with a problem in which "text along path"function produces unwabted change. If the text is ABCDEFG, after conversion to follow a ptah i.e. circle it is turned upside down and in the reverse order GFEDCBA. I have checked the steps in number of youtube tutorials but I cant see the reason why my GIMP is doing this. thanks for help.

A path has a direction. (And a start point).

For a circle, there is a trick which effectively reverses the direction of a path. Use the the Flip Tool, set to path mode, to flip the path vertically. Then start again fitting text to the path.

With screenshots Wink

1. The reversed path has been raised as a bug. Still not fixed. Without flipping the path you get

2. This shows the requirements for flipping a circular path.
Flip tool - Path mode - Vertical and a one click only in the canvas.

Be careful about carriage returns (Enter key) in the on screen text tool.

3. A CR before text will depress text

4. A CR after text will raise text

A little video I made for someone as a demo https://youtu.be/7fumw57Z2H8 might help. That also shows Ofnuts text tool plugin. Get that from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-pat...s/scripts/ ofn-text-along-path.zip
Updated recently, about four down the list
and
another more general demo showing rotating the text around the circle https://youtu.be/pukUIefS0xI
