Tas_mania, not that it makes that great of a difference either way but, Gimp.org's download page had all the RC3 releases listed here:

Gimp 3

a few hours before they did on their Gitlab site. They seem to have added a lot more information about the releases and redesigned the page a little bit. Maybe that will be the new spot to easily download all the releases, instead of having to click through Gitlab layers to drill down to what you need.

And I'm not sure if this really happened or not, but this site:

Gimp 3 Released Sunday, Feb. 9th

says it was released on this past Sunday.  Maybe they had it ready Sunday but just listed it today?  I'm not sure.

The gimp.org appimage is a great piece of work, look at the generate script and it truly is cutting edge. Very good for testing (I look-n-hope at the distribute tool) but not very backward compatible.  Nice to see they have a torrent here: https://download.gimp.org/gimp/v3.0/linux/

So for CtrlAltDel (and anyone else) again a RC3 remix from the ubuntu PPA update (thanks to Mateusz Łukasik)

Again on my cloud storage, no guarantees, obsolete in a couple of weeks 86 MB download
updated gmic_gimp_qt to 3.5.2 (added the old libjpeg.so.8 file which is a gmic dependency).

Edit: 24 Feb. found some incompatible files. Revised version (hardly worth it, there Gimp 3.0 due soon)

If it works for you, great, otherwise there is the delete key (...and yes I did add rc3 to the splash screen)

It works great, Rich.  I was thinking of asking you for this but was kind of hesitant considering I had just requested the same thing for RC2 just a day ago.  Thankfully, I didn't have to ask and now I don't feel like I'm pestering you.

For CtrlAltDel (and anyone else) this time Gimp 3.0 remix from the ubuntu PPA update (thanks to Mateusz Łukasik)

I have tried out in kubuntu 24.04 & Mint 22 also kubuntu 22.04 (all a bit flakey but working)

gimp_3.0_deb.AppImage https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=...rDQJoFITjX about 90 MB

Includes gmic_gimp_qt 3.5.3 / resynthesizer + python plugins / FFT Remember - for gmic you need QT5 installed

guarantees - the usual there are none

I'm confused about Gimp3.0.0-RC3 and Gimp3.

Gimp3 AppImage is here as the current Gimp version.

Gimp 3.0.0-RC3 AppImage is here as the development version.

They are wildly different is size.
GIMP-3.0.0-RC3 is 161Mb.
GIMP-3.0.0 is 487Mb

Maybe the site has not been updated?

I think you are correct about an update.  There is a month apart in RC3 and Stable

RC3 is the end of the line for RC versions, presumably the next development is 3.0.1 leading to a 3.0.2 release
Size is due to a load of debug files included in the 3.0 appimage, is that a mistake or on purpose ? Certainly put me off, although I did eventually use the torrent.
From the developers: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/13186 large appimage size
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/13266 next release 3.0.2 notes

Thanks rich, it was 'debug symbols' that blew-out the size. I think the only reason 3.0.0RC3 is still on the development page is there is no 3.0.1 release yet.

For CtrlAltDel (and anyone else) this time Gimp 3.0.2 remix from the ubuntu PPA update (thanks to Mateusz Łukasik)

I have tried out, a bit, in kubuntu 24.04 & Mint 22 also kubuntu 22.04 (all a bit flakey but working)

https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=...i4AR53vY70 about 95 MB

Includes gmic_gimp_qt 3.5.3 / resynthesizer + heal plugins / FFT Remember - for gmic you need QT5 installed

guarantees - the usual there are none. I wonder if the Gimp devs are as fed up with Gimp 3 as I am Wink

 Wink

Rich, oddly enough, I was browsing over here looking for a solution to the Gimp version 3.0/G'Mic dilemma while using Mint/Ubuntu and an AppImage:

https://discuss.pixls.us/t/resynthesizer...n/48899/27

and saw your post and thought to myself, what is this that Rich is talking about.  Clicking on your link, to my surprise, brought me right back to a thread here that I was already involved in.

Your solution worked perfectly for me.  I think I'm good now for the foreseeable future with this new Gimp 3.0.2 version AppImage and having the plugins I like already included, with the ability to add others that also now work, like Arrow, Beautify, etc...

Thanks for all your help with this.
