When you open the images, GIMP only show the detail view and it's not easy to find the image what I want at a glance.
How do you change it as grid view?

A solution is using the microsoft explorer to look at the images / photos and drag the photo to the left upper corner of gimp screen (on the Wilber area) :

EDIT, just crossed my mind if you're interested to get more real estate (useful for lengthy Tool Options list): Go to Edit ➤ Preferences a window opens Interface ➤ Toolbox un-tick Show GIMP logo (drag-n-drop target)

Another possibility is use a third-party image organiser/viewer application. This one is XnViewMP, which to be truthful is a bit overkill, there might be other lighter ones. One advantage is it shows Gimp .xcf thumbnails (of the baselayer). There is a an option to set up Gimp as a default editor and open from a menu, however 'drag-n-wish' also works.
