Layer has a sheen over the thumbnail, how did this happen?

I was going along creating layers for each pasted dot, and then one of them pasted weird where the layer has this green hue to it. When I moved the pasted image from the original, it looked the way it should but the original was left looking faded. Why did this happen?? Just wondering what I did wrong

1st image draws attention to the layer thumbnail weirdness. 2nd one shows how the difference between how the color should look vs. the original having become washed out

Ohh nvm... I realized I accidentally copied pasted the whole image to a new layer and then moved it, effectively blurring everything. Was able to undo!

It would be much easier if you made a brush out of one of your dots.

From your image I can't tell the size of the dot, how much transparency it has, etc. Could you make an xcf file containing just one layer (eg the layer named small). This can be made into a brush. Then it is just a single click to add a dot.
