How to create goose pimples/pores on skin?
#1
Big Grin
Hi forum -

I play a game where we can create avatar skin and some creators are probably using some expensive software to emulate realistic skin features and I'd like to get some advice on how I can mimic goose pimples and pores on skin realistically in Gimp. I know if can be done in Gimp and I've had some success, but it's not great.

Any pro tips on how this can be done is vastly appreciated.

Links provide examples of what I'm referring to:

Thank you very much.

Maybe try one of the noise renders and filter it to make it look skin colored?

I did some of my own experimenting:
Start with base of #FFB584
Then make a new layer, apply filters>render>noise>cell noise to that layer,
Change the mode to darken only, then opacity to 20%
Then make another layer, number 3, and apply filters>render>noise>plasma
Desaturate it, then reduce opacity to 34% and change mode to whatever looks best. (i tried screen)
Try that. You'll have to add wrinkles and stuff yourself. Pimples would basically be a red circle, blurred a little, with shading, added on top.

Pretty sure there is a couple of filters in GMIC-qt that does them too. Check under details and also repair.
