Newer tone-mapping algorithms
#1
I've downloaded GIMP 2.10.30 and there are three tone-mapping algorithms, the latest is of year 2006 by Mantiuk. Which are some modern and better algorithms and how to add them? I have a jpg image that needs tone mapping.

Please, reply in simple words, because I don't even know what tone mapping is. I just click on tools until picture is pretty.

Mantiuk gives a nice result, but the picture looks dirty, and some red, yellow and blue pixels show up. Any newer free online algorithms?

Date is no measure, after all you are using a jpeg image and jpeg format goes back to 1991. Are you sure you need tone mapping and not just some colour adjustment to make the image 'pop' ?

For more options, not Gimp, there is LuminanceHDR http://qtpfsgui.sourceforge.net/ example https://i.imgur.com/dNLIWsa.jpg Each of the thumbnails on the right side is a different algorithm. You are supposed to take a bracketed set of photos with different exposure values. You can fake from a single image using Gimp.

If it is just bumping the colors up then there is the Gimp plugin from http://www.gmic.eu Lots in there, just a couple of examples.

Well, look up what tone mapping means. What you probably need is an android app and use your phone. ...but then this is a Gimp forum.
