Import issues
#1
I've recently had to reinstall GIMP on a fresh boot of my computer. When I important images that are larger than the canvas (i.e. I am working in layers and want to add something then resize) GIMP is automatically adding rows of dead pixels to the image. These images are seamless and do not have dead pixels/seams in the original. I have verified there are no additional pixels in the original image by opening it on its own, transforming it, and zooming in.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you.

I am not sure what you mean by "dead" pixels but I think it might be something like this (in pictures)

Add an image to an existing canvas, File -> Open as Layers or maybe drag-n-drop where the image is larger that the canvas.

(1) The area outside the canvas is not shown. The layer boundary shows as a dashed-line.
(2) You can see the "hidden" pixels using View -> Show All and you can Move / Scale if you want to.
(3) If you want to make permanent, try Image -> Fit Canvas to Layers (and turn Show All off). The original canvas is now a small layer inside the new canvas.
