Is there a way to require a click when panning canvas?

I've recently moved back to using Arch after using Windows for a few years and I've become quite used to Photoshop.

Quick question: Is there any way to require a click to pan the can along with holding the space bar?

'pan the can(vas)' is that?

As you note space bar + move mouse on the canvas pans the image. Another way is mouse middle button (usually the scroll wheel these days)

Always better to try and forget PS ways when using Gimp.
