Policy change
#1
Due to the inordinate amount of spamming (we manually purge over 100 spammers per day, and these are the ones that percolate though the automatic defenses), we have to change our policies a bit.
  • Posts by new users ("Registered" users) are moderated as long as the spamming weather is bad.
  • "Registered" users become "Regular" users once their first post is accepted (with the privileges you are used to)
  • All current "Registered" users have been promoted "Regulars", so there should be no impact (tell us otherwise)
Now hopefully taking some popcorn and watching the moderation queue...

Admins: Thank you all for all your work. I've sometimes seen a lot of junk posted at one time -- none of which has ever lasted very long -- but I had no idea there was so much more than what I've seen that you were dealing with.

I see some spam due to timezones (Rich still in bed) and he's doing a good job. He also finds time to solve many Gimp questions here, often complex and in other languages. Many questions are operating system specific and Rich's vm's come to the rescue.

So hopefully this spam tsunami comes to an end. Congratulations Gimp Forum Wink and Rich.

Ofnuts has it all in hand. We just have to keep an eye open for legitimate posts and not keep new Gimp users from all your advice and help. You all deserve credit for keeping things going.
