Bucket null vs new path layer
#1
Bucket will not fill layer with path strokes. Seems that layer has a special property. What's going on ?

Same thing happens when i save selection to channel or to property.path. Layers seem locked into a 'mode'

  • You need to make a selection from the path (unless you are working directly from the path: "Fill path" in the paths list)
  • Your layer has some pixel or alpha lock active
  • Your layer isn't the active layer (can be a layer mask, or a channel)
  • Your bucket-fill tool is not in Normal mode

Other please add a screenshot of your UI.

There is your problem. When you save a selection to  a channel, that channel becomes the active "drawable" and is now the target of your bucket-fill. Re-select the layer in the Layers list to continue (and also possibly undo the bucket-fill on the saved channel).

Thanks. Today i observed that if i save a selection(made with path tool) as a Channel is when the bucket stops working.

It doesn't stop working... it works on something else. So you probably bucket-filled  the channel instead of the layer (although in current versions you are usually protected from updating things that are not visible, so you get the "The active layer is not visible" message, which is slightly misleading since what Gimp tries to paint on is not a layer at this point).
