Resynthesizer 3 vs Gimp 3.06
#1
Trying to install Resynthesizer (v3) for GIMP 3.0.6. I haven’t been able to get it working, even though it does install on my system. See the screenshots — they show the error messages GIMP gives. I’ve installed the plugin into GIMP exactly according to the instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCi_S14jBYM.

I've tried Googling and searching around, but haven’t found a solution. Maybe someone here has some advice? I’d be really grateful.

I'll include the text of the error messages here in case it's hard to read them from the screenshots:
GIMP notification: 'Plug-in Heal Selection... left image undo in inconsistent state, closing open undo groups.'
And another one: 'Execution error for procedure “Heal Selection…” — Error: eval: unbound variable: plug-in-resynthesizer.

Ahhh...do not use the info on that youtube video

What I know works with Windows Gimp 3.0.6 are the plugins from here:
https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Resynt...ows-Gimp-3
Unzip and put in your Gimp 3 plugins folder C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\3.0\plug-ins

Then as an example using heal selection a 40 second demo: https://sendvid.com/740dld1y

Why not? If it's wrong, how?
I loaded resynthesizer here: https://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=21535&start=0

Various versions on that post, probably version 3 is ok, but...it is packaged as old style script-fu + the single .exe plugin. It will work but it is not correct.

They are all plugins and go in their own folders in the Gimp 3 plugins folder. ( as shown here https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Resynt...ows-Gimp-3  )

see: https://github.com/bootchk/resynthesizer...r3-Plugins

The most obvious - what-have you-done -  is the entry bottom of the filters menu.  From the error messages the heal selection plugin does not find the resynthesizer plugin.  That entry is usually found in Filters -> Map -> Resynthesize..  At least it has for the many years I have used it.

What version of GIMP do you have? The last time I was able to use Resynthesizer, my GIMP version was 2.something, and I could find 'Heal Selection' under Filters → Enhance → Heal.
It's always a bit risky to download files from unknown sources.

A bit of history: The resynthesizer plugin goes way back.  It is used to create seamless tiles. You find it in Filters -> Map and the dialogue in Gimp 3 looks like this.  Give it a try - does it work ?

The add-on plugins and the ones usually needed  heal-selection and heal-transparency are separate plugins that use resynthesizer and as you say register in Edit -> Enhance. That is where the error message comes from. The heal plugin can not find the resynthesizer plugin when it is incorrectly installed.

"unknown sources"  What is unknown about the ones I posted here; https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Resynt...ows-Gimp-3  Up to you what you use.  Subject closed as far as I am concerned.
