A crude fix and Kevin gave a better answer. As ofnuts noted it needs a complete rewrite. For example from the warning
deprecated procedure 'gimp-hue-saturation' should call 'gimp-drawable-hue-saturation'
The latter has an extra parameter overlap, you will see the slider in the regular Gimp hue-saturation dialog.
Easy enough to add to the script. Is the effect the same as the Gimp 2.8 version? no-way, for some reason it scatters coloured pixels over dark areas.
