Dumb question: How do I open an image
#1
I can't remember if I asked this before...
How do I open an image from Gimp?

Ctrl O.
But now I have to navigate to exactly where my image is - a painful lengthy navigation of clicking through folders.

I have a habit of:

- Copy the folder path in explorer
- Ctrl O
- Paste folder path and press enter
- I can now select the image

I do this in EVERY single program I use - apart from Gimp!

Love Gimp. It's been many years since I used Photoshop.
I wish this annoying feature could be fixed.

Someone is probably going to come along and defend the way it's setout and the way it works + tell me off for complaining! ?
OS: Windows 10
Gimp Ver: 2.10.2

Strange ways.... if you are in the explorer, your can right click the image and open in with Gimp, not need to open a file selector in Gimp. If you can't do this, then you just need a bit of set-up (aka "file associations").

Otherwise, see if there is a pencil icon to the left of the directory "breadcrumbs" at the top of the dialog. If so, click it and you can then enter a path directly (you can also type in the path, the input field supports "tab-completion").

Not a copy / paste but with the File -> Open dialogue up, click-n- drag the required folder into the dialogue.
