Take circle picture out of image to use

Add an alpha channel for transparency Layer -> Transparency -> Add alpha channel
Make a circular selection covering the area you want.
Copy the selection Edit -> Copy
Paste as a new image Edit -> Paste As -> New image
Export the new image as a png to keep any transparency (in corners)
