The export functions are not working in my GIMP 2.10
#1
Sad
Hey all,

I've recently downloaded the latest version of GIMP (2.10) since I've used the program before and have a new project I need it for. My device I've installed it on runs on windows 8.1 pro. The export function are not working. The steps I follow it are as follows.

1. File > Export as
2. Select the desired destination
3. Choose my file format (in my case *.tif, *.tiff)
4. Export

After this it's like my pop up window freezes. I cannot click anything else on the window and the only way I can close the window is by pressing the red x in the top right. There is no other window that pops up giving me further export options.

Can someone please help.

Welcome to gimp-forums.net

Is it just tiff format that is the problem? Can you export any other format (png jpeg..)

Did you have any third-party plugins such as ufraw installed in the previous Gimp 2.8 ?

There was a recent post where left-over files from the old Gimp 2.8 installation caused a problem

Hey Rich2005,

This problem I'm experiencing is with all the export formats. Not just tiff. Also, I doubt I have any third-party plugins as I download the GIMP 2.10 onto a new laptop that had not had any other version previously installed on it. So I literally just downloaded it for the first time onto this device today.

That is going to be difficult to diagnose. Possibly an AV or similar interfering.

Worth a try, the Partha Gimp 2.10.2 installs separately from the gimp.org version, might by-pass any problem.

So I've tried downloading it for this site. It installs but when I want to run the program it says it is not compatible with my device and I should find a version for my system. I do no understand why it says this though because I am infact installing the one for windows...

OK. It was when you wrote using windows 8.1 pro I assumed pro = 64 bit Windows. The partha version is 64 bit only.

Unfortunately, the present version from gimp.org which is a dual 64/32 bit 'universal' Windows installer is broken for the 32 bit install. Who knows when it will be fixed.

Two choices,
Install a Gimp 2.8.22
You can get one here: http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.g...-setup.exe 85 MB

or

There is a 'portable' Gimp 2.10.2 32 bit from https://samjcreations.blogspot.com/ about half way down the page. direct http://www.aljacom.com/~gimp/Gimp-2.10_3...ortable.7z 140 MB unzip somewhere, make a shortcut to one of the several 'language' launchers.

Hope you get something working.
