A lot of things missing from GIMP 2.10.

I installed this version recently and noticed that a lot of things are missing from from the tools tab and I have to switch them from the tools menu. Anyway to change that? For example the scaling tool was already there, I didn't have to find it through the drop down menus.

Also, where is neon? I don't mean the one from edge detect but the other one. There used to be a menu that doesn't exist anymore, something like ' alpha to logo ' . Do I need to download it?

Whatever, I just uninstalled it and re-installed 2.8. Way better.

The toolbox is getting fairly busy so they invented "groups" (tools icons have a small icon at the bottom right to display the rest of the group).

If you want ungroup icons: Edit>Preferences>Toolbox>Use tool groups.

Well, OP has gone back to Gimp 2.8 which is fair enough. If it works for your needs....

For others coming to this post.
The Tool Groups (and compact tool box) can be changed back to the previous format with settings in Edit -> Preferences

The old 'logo' scripts are removed from Gimp 2.10.x as being from an earlier era, poor quality, etc.. In addition most do not work 100% anyway due to the change to GEGL operations.

They are still available to download see: https://github.com/GNOME/gimp-data-extra...er/scripts
