There is an updated Windows Gimp 2.10.18 rev 1 from yesterday ( 7 March 20) that fixes the selection box problem for brushes / fonts / colour ...etc..
Still not available from the gimp.org main page but is there

Ohhh great! Lol! It wasn't yesterday, a few days ago. Might get it again in that case...I guess it'll get better in time as long as you keep going back and installing?
I think I'd be fully sold if they could fix the glitch from the old one where it just randomly stopped letting me fuzzy select the background. I use that to then press invert and make outlines on stuff that has gaps within the item.. just annoying bc it's not like they can send you an email when they fix a particular thing
