Betelgeuse is not anymore fusing hydrogen into helium, but carbon into neon/magnesium and Betelgeuse is not massive enough to fuse neon and magnesium into silicon and there is not much carbon left, thus Betelgeuse should go supernova from the next decade to few more decades
