Yahoo is putting the emails into its spam folder so Thunderbird doesn't get to see them. I have to log in to the Yahoo website and mark them as not spam - every time
Did you tried Evolution (sudo apt install evolution), it downloads everything even the ones in the spam folder on the server (I don't have a Yahourt email though
).
