brushes dialogue missing buttons

In the attachment is the Brushes Dialogue box I see when I open GIMP.  The documentation says Iʻm supposed to have buttons at the bottom of it for

• Smaller previews
  
• Larger previews
  
• View as list
  
• View as Grid
  
• Open the brush selection dialog
  

As you can see, I have none of those.
What am I doing wrong?

Looking in the wrong place Before your quote is this:

from the Tool Options dialog for any of the paint tools, by clicking on the Brush icon button, you get a popup....

..and that popup is shown as the simplified "Brushes" dialogue.

   

You do have a Tool Options don't you

Yes, after I figured out that I had to go to Windows/Dockable Dialogues/Tool Options.
