freeze on export
#1
Hello

Running 3.02
Gimp freezes and hangs when trying to export a file under a different format ( png to jpg).
Concerned file is quite small (around 1MB) and is a colour image.

Problem not solved by computer re-boot.

Any hint ?

Windows 10 64-bit; gimp 3.0. 2-1. No problem writing after converting png to jpg. Are there perhaps too many files in the folder where you write the jpg file? Then the gimp browser sometimes reacts slowly or does not want to open the folder at all. This is what I experience.

Does the "freeze" occur with other files and file sizes or is it only that particular file ?

What sort of editing is in place, multiple layers, layer effects (fx) in place (not merged) ? Does it have any color profile in place other than Gimp sRGB ?

Will the file save as a Gimp .xcf ?

Can you run Gimp in a cmd terminal and see if any error messages show. ?

There are one or two issue reports about Windows Gimp 3.0 crashing and you can report to the Gimp developers
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues

If you do give as many details as possible, not just Gimp freezes.

Thanks for your answers Rich and others, sorry I didn't acknowledge the answer earlier...
I'm back with gimp 3.08-02 and I have the same issue from time to time.

Digging a bit deeper, I realize that pseudo-stalling occurs (at least for me) when I tray to export to directories with a laaarge amount of files. Gimp finally got through, but after a long time.
Workaround is thus simple : export to reasonnable populated directories§

Thanks all for the advice.
