is there a crop tool setting I can change in 3.2.4?
#1
Hi,

I've just changed from 2.10 to 3.2.4 and I'm having a few hiccups. The one for today is the crop selection tool. In 2.10, I couldn't select anything beyond the canvas, which suited me just fine and made it seem faster to crop thousands of screenshots. I often have to zoom in to 800% for precision. Now with 3.2, the crop tool can extend beyond the canvas so when I zoom to 800% at the edge, the crop selection handles aren't visible without jumping through hoops.

Is there a tool setting I can change to restore the behavior preference?

The screenshot is just intended to show what I mean by "the crop selection tool extends beyond the canvas" in case that needed to be shown.

Thanks much,
John A.

I recall one change between Gimp 2.10 early versions and later versions where crop tool allow-growing became the default.  You just have one layer there so layer size = canvas size indicated by the yellow dotted boundary.

Just turn off the allow growing toggle in the crop tool options.

Edit: A quick check with a default Gimp 3.2 If you untick Allow-growing then it is remembered between sessions (providing you have Save Tool Options on Exit ON, in edit -> Preferences -> Tool Options, ie the default)
