ora format... it really works?

Hi! I was trying to open a xcf in Krita to make some brush work there. I found is not possible with new Gimp versions, so i found somewhere the suggest to use . ORA format. I exported to it, but Krita opened the layers cropped or misplaced. I opened with Gimp with the same result. So, i conclude that ora is a faulty export format, at least there is something im missing.
Any experience or comment about exchange formats?
