Yes, it is. That is the whole point of my post (see first post): when printed at 1200x1200 or 300x300 the printed image is indeed ignoring the print dimensions that I've specified (7" x 4.6992"). It looks correct on the screen, as you note, but the printed image is a different beast.
ah, ok Did it ever work with Gimp 2.10 ? What exactly are you doing with those 1200 x 1200 dpi settings ?
No, in fact I just tried that -- removed the dev version and used 2.10.38 r1 with the same (poor) results. Regarding the settings, I'm specifying 1200x1200 dpi (v. 300x300 or 600x600) in the Image Quality setting in the GIMP print interface. This all seems so straightforward, and yet...the results.
