re-colorizing in GIMP - steps to go

good day dear experts

the current job  -  re-colorizing in GIMP - which steps to go


i want to re-colorize the dots in the image. How to do this?

I have heard that we can do this with layers  - but at the moment i do not have any clue


   


i really look forward to  any and all ideas

For a clean result:
  • You color-erase the black (which makes the black transparent)
  • You fill in Behind mode with the new color.
