How do I move my toolbox?
#1
On Ubuntu, currently running 3.0.2.  I had to fresh install to get to .2 otherwise it kept crashing on brush selection, but in doing so it wiped my preferences.  I'm just trying to figure out how to get the toolbox onto the right side of the screen.  Used to be you could turn off single-window mode, move the toolbox window, and then turn back on single-window mode and it would save the position, but that doesn't appear to work anymore.  Anyone know the current method?

Gimp 3.0.2 in Ubuntu ? Is that a flatpak Gimp ? That might be a problem. However it is "a bit strange"

The best I can suggest, is assemble the tools/options dock with the right side dock(s) before going back to single window mode.  If you have a 4k display that might be a problem as well. Those damn icons are very small.

This Gimp 3.0 appimage in kubuntu 22.04 starting in multi-window mode.

Flatpack instructions weren't working for my system, I got 3.0.2 loaded from this unofficial PPA.

Seems like I've got a local problem, as other people on Ubuntu are saying it's working just fine for them.  Even assembling docks together still won't let me add them to the right side; I can place the layers and tool properties on the right side, but toolbox and anything docked with it defaults to the left.

Ah..PPA from PandaJim ....
A bit more experiment, Gimp 2.3.0 appimage. Starting from default setup and even when the docks are moved around then fixed back into single window mode, close Gimp and the layout reverts to default. It looks like sessionrc is not saved as:
[/i]The sessionrc will be entirely rewritten every time
you quit GIMP. If this file isn't found, defaults are used.[/i]

Should probably be sent to the devs as a bug.

However, not a lot of use to you, but Rearranging the docks, then manually saving the layout Edit -> Preferences -> Window Management then untick Save on Exit and click on Save Window Positions Now. Does work. A Gimp restart keeps the new layout.

And when I switch to single window mode it all goes to the right:
