Grooves not setting - hendrikbez - 02-12-2022 I have a file in gimp. Gimp file I want to add Grooves to the image, but I cannot get it to set When I move around I can see the groove moving, but when I click to add it, it does not. What am I doing wrong. RE: Grooves not setting - rich2005 - 02-12-2022 Make a gradient with settings 1) FG to BG (Hardedge 2) Shape Radial 3) Repeat Sawtooth wave Draw it from center, a tiny amount and it repeats as concentric circles. Then a choice. Color to alpha and make one of the colors transparent or as this black/white and the layer mode (4) Darken only. [attachment=7459] I used gear : [attachment=7460] Then I used Ottia Tuota plugin : tools / modify path / round corners Then you can use : 'select / from path' to make a selection Invert the selection : 'select / invert' Set the layer with the purple disc active and delete the 'grooves' [attachment=7461] RE: Grooves not setting - rich2005 - 02-12-2022 Best to start off with an image as denzjos shows, That is the shape-paths script, you can use a gear shape or a star shape. However it is possible with a bit of selecting and cutting to make a serrated edge on your image. This using the paint tool to paint around a selection, a spacing greater than 100% the paint too paints dots. Then it is using that as a template to cut the main image. Goes like this 1' 40" duration https://youtu.be/f-DgI7oE4N0 RE: Grooves not setting - hendrikbez - 02-13-2022 (02-12-2022, 06:36 PM)denzjos Wrote: Something like this ? Thank you for the info, but where do you get all that shapes, I cannot find them in gimp. RE: Grooves not setting - hendrikbez - 02-13-2022 Just one question, I do have a groove brush that I want to use, but when I click to add it to the layer groove it does not do it, why? I did went true the pdf file, and done everting like they said, but the Grooves brush does not work at all. It look like this RE: Grooves not setting - denzjos - 02-13-2022 @hendrikbez, you can find the gimp script to make a 'gear' path here : http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17044 Download 'shape-path-091.scm' and put it on your scripts folder I used it with this values : [attachment=7465] RE: Grooves not setting - hendrikbez - 02-13-2022 (02-13-2022, 09:14 AM)denzjos Wrote: @hendrikbez, you can find the gimp script to make a 'gear' path here : Thank you, got the script. Will see how it works RE: Grooves not setting - rich2005 - 02-13-2022 @denzjos, Come on, no need to go to gimpchat that script here: https://www.gimp-forum.net/attachment.php?aid=2116 and of course should always mention Ofnuts plugin ofn-path-to-shape.py from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-path-tools/files/scripts/ (ofn-path-to-shape.zip dated 2016-12-26) @hedrickbez Is that brush a full circle shape ? Without using it not easy to see what is going wrong. Sometimes a brush is used as a 'stamp' one-click to paint, sometimes a brush is used with the eraser tool to cut out a shape. Another way is use a path, I will attach one I made It is sized for your 1000x1000 image but a path (a vector) scales up or down without loss of quality. This one milled-edge.svg is not opened as an image, right click in the paths dock and use import path. Then Select > from Path, and in this case invert the selection and cut out the edge. 50 second demo: https://i.imgur.com/sncNdE8.mp4 (should be there but imgur is a little flakey at time of posting) |
