How do I put three pictures(1920*1080 each) in one picture(in 3 parts)? - IndianAgent47 - 10-21-2017 Hi everyone. I downloaded GIMP a week ago. I want to make a thumbnail for my YouTube video, where 3 pictures of 1920*1080 resolution are put in three equal parts in a 1920*1080 picture. I want them to be divided by three slashes (/) rather than a straight line. Thanks! On the two top layers, Right Click on the layer and Add Layer Mask. Use White (full opacity). In the layers dialogue, select one of the layer masks. ie click on the layer mask next to the image thumbnail. Use one of the selection tools and select the portion of that image that you want to be transparent. Bucket fill it with black to make it transparent. Do the same for the next layer mask. See the image below, noting the layer masks and black areas. But when I open up my 3 images with the open in layers option only one image is displayed: And after that when I right click on the image there is no layer mask option Help please! RE: How do I put three pictures(1920*1080 each) in one picture(in 3 parts)? - rich2005 - 10-22-2017 You create a layer mask in Layer -> Mask -> Add Layer Mask Layers masks in Gimp are really useful so look in the gimp docs on use https://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-dialogs-structure.html#gimp-layer-mask Either the layer mask or the (image) layer can be active, important you know the difference. Click on the icon to make active, a white border indicates it is active. For your three layers. Make a black layer mask (full transparency) for each of the top 2 layers.screenshot https://i.imgur.com/1qaFdrw.jpg In the second layer make a selection. https://i.imgur.com/wDsgBia.jpg Fill the selection with white. https://i.imgur.com/TWUAExs.jpg Move up to the next layer, make sure the mask is active, make a smaller selection, fill with white https://i.imgur.com/AS09SPc.jpg Save your work as a Gimp .xcf file which saves all layers, masks, etc. When happy with the outcome that is the time to Export to a png / jpeg / tiff ... RE: How do I put three pictures(1920*1080 each) in one picture(in 3 parts)? - Ofnuts - 10-22-2017 Open the Layers list, you should see your three images. Of course, since at that point the top image is opaque it masks off the images under it. Yup they are but the part to put into the picture is selected free hand, so I was wondering if there was a way to select equal parts of all the three images RE: How do I put three pictures(1920*1080 each) in one picture(in 3 parts)? - Blighty - 10-23-2017 (10-23-2017, 04:14 AM)IndianAgent47 Wrote: Yup they are but the part to put into the picture is selected free hand, so I was wondering if there was a way to select equal parts of all the three images Put in guides at the correct places. Assuming you want a slight angle on the portions: 1980/3 = 640 Put in guides at (640-100) and (640+100) etc Switch on (View > Snap to Guides) and (View > Snap to Canvas Edges) Use the Free Select Tool to make your selections.
