In the kindom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. i rarely use this method because it requires too much concentration and pen and paper Especially when you have funky numbered canvases, like 1234x4321px or you need guides at thirds or quarters, etc. For exact positions, in Image>Guide>New guide use the keys to move up to the left guide position (say 4 PgUp and 3 CursorUp), for the right guide, set the position to the image width, then use the opposite keys (4 PgDown and 3 CursorDown). No need for math. For relative positions Image>Guide>New guide (by percent) is usable for 1/2, 1/4, 1/5 for not for 1/3. Oh, and fiddly precision work of the Move Tool. Right, but fiddliness decreases as the zoom factor increases. In Inkscape you can convert rectangles into guides. Thats nice. Let the program do all the math for you, align and move around. Convert. Voila ! Rectangle select, then Image>Guides>Guide from selection? But how do you determine the rectangle anyway? Perhaps Select all, shrink selection, then image from guides. This doesnt work for me. Or maybe im misunderstanding. Are you saying you can move a guide with the keyboard ? Quote:Rectangle select, then Image>Guides>Guide from selection? But how do you determine the rectangle anyway? I didnt know about this feature... :-O Well snap to canvas edges is helpful. The Rectangle Select Tool Size value ringers and doing the math inside the box. RE: Cropped Corners - rich2005 - 02-10-2018 I think to OP will be well and truly confused by now. Going back to first post, selection -> cut -> flip & repeated x3 is as efficient as any. I tend to head for guides and no need to be particularly precise with a selection, something like this, then inverted, crops and is also reasonably quick. Clever, even if I think you mean "Guides from selection" RE: Cropped Corners - rich2005 - 02-10-2018 Yeah. Thanks for the correction, I am not bad at multi-tasking but looking at that fading animation in another post, some video rendering + some CAD design and slip-ups do happen. |
