I made a minor mod to your script so it appears under the 'Layer' menu entry. I think that's an appropriate place for it. I notice plugins are listed under alphabetical order.
I would like to make a comment on gimpchat about animation player and how it works on alpha layers. Do you mind if I include your script and attribute it?
