You have to read in context with the earlier posts, (does anyone ever do that ?) Part was saving for Gimp 2.8

To avoid the RGB dark border issue then you need linear. Once that is fixed in pixels on the canvas, you can go back to legacy mode. It then comes down to eye-of-beholder and personal preferences. Some of the 2.10 blend modes can be a little on the faded side.
