Inkscape is a vector drawing application. I mentioned it before, because Macromedia Freehand used in that old tutorial is also a vector drawing application. Inkscape is very different from Gimp, which is a raster graphics editor. Like Gimp it is FOSS see: https://inkscape.org/en/ As you can see from that attempt, I am no expert.
