Hi
In fact I have just removed most (but not all) of the background
with a free online gif editor.... they can choose to delete specified
color code and similar color code. That's why I asked you if GIMP
can also do the same job.

Nope, you have replaced the blues and greens with mostly white. That still has to be removed to give transparency for a new background to show.
Using a color-to-alpha and back to a semi-transparent dinosaur. Quite a big gif with the new back ground

"You will need to edit each of those layers in turn. To make it easier turn all the Layer visibility off using shift-click on the top 'eyeball' icon then as you work down the layers just have the layer you are working on visible."
top 'eyeball' icon?? SOrry where it is ? I cannot find it Can you capture to show me?

Now I have two problems when going through your tutorial 2.8. Foreground Select
"
1. I'm unable to Draw a line through the foreground
when I try to draw it, the "blue" background disappears immediately, I am not able to draw a random line within]the foreground, but in the tutorial, the "blue" background is there.[
2. As soon as I open the gif, there is such a dotted rectangular selection appearing, which was not created by me. Why is it ?

Oh yes, I almost forgot, do I need to repeat the "2.8. Foreground Select" steps for every frame/image of the gif or just once for the gif?

Looks like I am now able to proceed to further steps...
but still, looks like this dotted rectangular area is hindering my progress...
It WAS NOT selected by me, as soon as I open the file it is there.

Gimp is a complex application, the best learning method is start off with simple operations and just go through all the various tools and modes to understand how they work.
Absolutely no idea what you are doing.

Repeating post #5 The dino gif has 96 layers and the background needs removal from each layer. There is no really easy way.
Do not be confused. You need to remove the background from each frame. edit: and if that means one-by-one then that is what is required.

OK. After removing background (making the background transparent right?) of all 96 images,
do I need to add the new desired background to each image and repeat 96 times?
I think there should be something more automatic for this... am I correct??
