I think the script is the attached - by RobA
Does work on my 100 layer test image but looking at the OP 6800 images, they would have to loaded as layers, and the size probably 80x85 grid = 20480 x 21760 pix - big canvas.
I did try XNViewMP - and yes, just be careful of scaling the tiles.
