RE: GimpChat down - MrsP-from-C - 11-28-2024 David, do you have an entry for gimpchat in your /etc/hosts file? RE: GimpChat down - david - 11-28-2024 MrsP-from-C, Thanks for the reply. Yes, there was an entry for gimpchat in your /etc/hosts file, but removing it makes no difference. David. MrsP-from-C, You are an ace!!! Changed the entry in the hosts file to the correct IP and GC works. Many thanks, David. RE: GimpChat down - MrsP-from-C - 11-28-2024 Glad that it helped. RE: GimpChat down - sallyanne - 11-29-2024 First time I noticed it was down (for me) was about the 26th November ACDT. If it was before that I do not know as I didn't access the site a day or two before. I had been in contact with Wallace and Omega and found out it was back up. I tried to start a post here about it and didn't see this one. I did start a post but must have cancelled it because I didn't see it after. Anyway I am glad the error was found and all is ok now RE: GimpChat down - Ofnuts - 11-29-2024 (11-28-2024, 01:49 PM)david Wrote: MrsP-from-C, You shouldn't have one. The only time when this can be needed is when they they forget to renew the "gimpchat.com" domain, and GC disappears from the name servers(*). Otherwise having one does more harm than good because if the site is moved you won't see it. (*) unless local authorities are asking your ISP to block "gimpchat.com", which is often done by making the ISP name servers return 127.0.0.1 which is the "localhost" address. |
