file-heif.exe - Application Error - AlisonJones - 02-10-2025 Has anyone else installed GIMP 3.0 I have and it seems to work okay but when I load it up I get this message and it stops loading until I hit okay and it proceeds to load without a problem but is annoying to go through the procedure each time and press the okay tab before it will load. Is anyone else having this problem? It actually says "click OK to close the application" but that doesn't happen, when I click OK, the program continues to load and runs okay. [attachment=13080] RE: file-heif.exe - Application Error - denzjos - 02-10-2025 No problem on my pc with gimp 3.0 RC2 on OS windows 10. Some information about heif.exe : https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/what_is_the_heif_image_extension_in_windows_10.html RE: file-heif.exe - Application Error - Ofnuts - 02-10-2025 (Yesterday, 05:36 AM)AlisonJones Wrote: Has anyone else installed GIMP 3.0 I have and it seems to work okay but when I load it up I get this message and it stops loading until I hit okay and it proceeds to load without a problem but is annoying to go through the procedure each time and press the okay tab before it will load. This is because there are two apps here. gimp and file-heif. When Gimp starts it searches its plug-ins directories for unknown plug-ins, and when if finds one it executes it so that the plug-ins "registers" and can be added in the menus. Since file-heif crashes, it doesn't register, so on next start-up Gimp will find it again and try to run it again. The dialog you get is about the crash of file-heif, once you have answered the execution returns to Gimp which continues starting up. I can't tell how to get file-heif to work for you, but you can hide the problem by renaming file-heif.exe to something non executable (such as file-heif.exe.disabled) so that Gimp won't try to run it. |
