Scanner is not recognised by GIMP - Free_Lifeware - 01-27-2017 I use GIMP 2.9.5 on Linux MInt. I can use my Scanner through other programmes but when I run GIMP and go to File-> Create there is no Scanner/Camera option. There are the options From Clipboard, From Webpage, Screenhot but no Camera/Scanner. The Scanner is recognised by the OS but not by GIMP. Any ideas? RE: Scanner is not recognised by GIMP - 2-ton - 01-28-2017 I have never seen my scanner as an option. RE: Scanner is not recognised by GIMP - rich2005 - 01-28-2017 Just replied over on gimpusers Probably you do not have the xsane scanner package installed. this one http://www.gimpusers.com/system/attachments/444/original/xsane.jpg?1485593586 Ah... not with it this morning (if ever) Gimp 2.9.5 Is that from the 'buntu gimp-edge repo? Scanner option not working here either. Looking into it. edit: Adding xsane should work. It does not show in my 'portable' appimage but in a kubuntu 16.04 virtual machine(VM) with Gimp 2.9.5 installed from the repo, the menu entry is there. (but I do not have the Brother wireless scanner driver installed in this VM) [attachment=278] edit again: Some confirmation that it works. This is my Gimp 2.9.5 portable(appimage) in my laptop. Since I already have xsane installed for a regular Gimp 2.8.18 I copied the xsane plugin to the Gimp 2.9.5 profile plug-ins. Typical linux utility with several separate windows, I close them down to these two. Using a Brother J825DW here and a wireless connection. A lot is going to depend on your HP setup. There is a lot about installations on the Mint forums. http://imgur.com/folTtbG |
