In Gimp 2.8 my tool options dock to the toolbox alright but, as soon as I click on the toolbox, the options disappear. What could be the problem?

I think I've found a solution on the internet; here it is: "Drag the words Tool Options to the lower part of the toolbox."
I hope it stays on. Thanks.
