svg file support - gimp-artist - 04-30-2018 Gimp supports svg file format. I downloaded some gradients, which is svg file format. I placed it in the folder I specified in the preference dialog for gradients. Then I restarted gimp and refreshed gradients. Nothing happens. Nothing is easy really. How do I make it appear in the gradients list? RE: svg file support - Ofnuts - 04-30-2018 Gimp can load SVG files as images, and can import/export SVG files to/from paths. It won't use SVG files anywhere else. If Gimp had complete/full support of the SVG format, there would be no need for InkScape... RE: svg file support - rich2005 - 04-30-2018 Just to add to Ofnuts post. This is a gradient saved as an SVG file. As a Gimp gradient it looks like the text on the left. As an SVG the text on the right. screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/XAtCnbr.jpg You can see that they are very different. You can open the SVG in Gimp as an image and there are tools to create a Gimp .ggr (gradient) file. The G'mic plugin is one of them. This a gradient made from the SVG. screenshot https://i.imgur.com/3OEoMXU.jpg Gimp .ggr gradient files are used elsewhere, Inkscape for example. RE: svg file support - Espermaschine - 04-30-2018 It worked for a while, and you could duplicate the gradient in Gimp and then it was automatically converted into a .ggr file. Was useful for making complex gradients in Inkscape and transfer to Gimp. Tim from gimplearn also wrote a script to make svg gradients i think, or didnt he ? I havent tried it in 2.10, but i know for a fact that Gimp gradients work in Inkscape (after import it appears in the Fill & Stroke Dialogue and can be applied to objects), which is nice when you need a gradient with many stops, like gold. |
