weird halos after Gaussian Blur - Espermaschine - 05-06-2018

You guys experiencing this as well ?

I fill a selection with white, open the Gaussian Blur, play around with the values and everything looks fine but after i hit OK, the blur looks weird and has some kind of halo....

I see it, but I think it is an optical illusion. If it where real, there would be a threshold value that would create a white circle with a white ring.

Edit: extreme values of the threshold (on both sides) show that the filters is not  strictly isotropic.

what does that mean ?

Isotropic: identical in all directions. The blurred circle should remain a circle. In practice for the extreme values, it looks like a rounded diamond, so the diagonals are not strictly like the verticals/horizontals.
