Is there any way to import (some) Fallout 4 (DX11) textures into GIMP? - KevKiev - 07-24-2018 Gimp can't seem to open some of the texture files that are in Fallout 4, apparently because of the compression format which I think comes from DX11. (My DDS viewer program can't open 'em either.) Is there any workaround for this? I read that there's updated plugins for Photoshop and Paint.net, but I couldn't find anything for GIMP. RE: Is there any way to import (some) Fallout 4 (DX11) textures into GIMP? - KevKiev - 07-26-2018 I guess there must be a time limit on editing posts... Anyways, I'm thinking a lot of you have managed various workarounds for loading dds files with the newer compression formats but I thought I'd pass along that you can do it via Paint.Net with the plugin referenced in this forum post: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/111731-dds-filetype-plus-2018-07-09/ I opened the offending file that way, saved it into a friendlier compression format, and Gimp was able to load it just fine. Gonna keep Paint.net installed just for that purpose. |
