Help needed on border radius - Fleetwin - 02-23-2017 [attachment=333] I'm trying to make a new decal from my vintage outboard. I'm using Gimp 2.8. It's almost good enough (for me) but I'm having trouble getting the bottom border radius' looking natural like the top corners, but otherwise, I have it shaped like the original. Help or suggestions appreciated, Thanks! P.S.- My off white "background" make it hard to even distinguish the border on this forum. ..... not sure what I can do so you can see the problem better. [attachment=335] If the one shown above is what you need I did the following: 1) taken your image 2) added two transparent layers below your image 3) filled the whole middle layer with the "fake" white BG colour of your image 4) rounded rectangle selection on the middle layer with a radius to cope with your upper shape 5) invert selection, cut 6) merged down RE: Help needed on border radius - rich2005 - 02-23-2017 Is it something like this. edit: noticed the smaller radiused corners so an update. [attachment=337] All sorts of ways but you can use a quick mask and a round brush to paint in a small radius. A quick demo - 4 mins - good practice in the use of selection tools. RE: Help needed on border radius - Fleetwin - 02-23-2017 Thank you for your replies! I started out with a rectangle photo and used a 25% radius, using the "Select" and "Rounded Rectangle" menus. That gave me the nice corners on the top, but seeing how I needed a "jog" on the bottom around "Evinrude Motor Company", the bottom 25% radius were too low, and I ended up freehand erasing background to make the four bottom radius'. I will go thru your information this evening a practice! Thanks for your help! Will let you know how I make out. RE: Help needed on border radius - Fleetwin - 02-25-2017 Thank you for your replies! UPDATE: I watched the "How-to" video about 25 times, practicing as I went, and I'm happy with my results now. Many thanks! |
