Animated text help! - ZacheryTK - 10-14-2018 Hey everybody, My name is Zach and I have recently re-downloaded Gimp. I used to use Gimp about ten years ago but dropped off for awhile; I would like to get back into the swing of things. I am curious about how to add a burning/glowing effect to text in Gimp 2.10. When I was originally using Gimp, I created the userbar below where the text glows from left to right. I was hoping somebody could assist me in doing that same thing now since I have forgotten. If a thread already exists explaining how to do this, I would be grateful for any links. Thanks in advance! RE: Animated text help! - rich2005 - 10-15-2018 I do not know of a specific script for that animation, but then I do not do much in that line. There might be some tutorials out there, bound to be pre-gimp 2.10 Perhaps somebody will come up with better information. Looking at that animation, 99 layers, a lot of layers. The white glow is around the text and is not easy to make on a small image, blurring does not make much in the way of 'reinforcement'. It might have been larger and scaled down. However, I can give you some tips to help along the way with links to screenshots and useful scripts/plugins. Tip no 1. Work in RGB mode until finally exporting the animation. Making something obvious so it stands out: https://i.imgur.com/w2NL1Js.jpg Some white text as a graphic (1) as a separate layer, and blurred (yellow because you can hardly see white) (2) The two layers together (3) Taking the yellow blurred layer on its own as new image https://i.imgur.com/DUUrRPe.jpg Added a series of evenly spaced guides, not 99, 20 as an example A useful script for adding multiple Guides https://www.gimp-forum.net/attachment.php?aid=1992 This plugin https://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-tools/files/scripts/ofn-guillotine-layer.zip/download (4) will split up the base layer into small layers according to the guide positions (5) https://i.imgur.com/VB7hH0K.jpg Make a background graphic using the original white text (6) That replaces the base layer on the stack of 'split-up' layers (7) https://i.imgur.com/2IAgfrK.jpg Yet another script to merge each layer with the background http://chiselapp.com/user/saulgoode/repository/script-fu/wiki?name=sg-combine-bg (8) Then export the result as an animated gif (9) All dependshow much time and enthusiasm you are willing to put into your project. (not much in my case ) RE: Animated text help! - ZacheryTK - 10-16-2018 (10-15-2018, 11:07 AM)rich2005 Wrote: I do not know of a specific script for that animation, but then I do not do much in that line.
